Do you imagine your story on the big screen?

Or perhaps on the little screen?

Then Media City Publisher's Book-to-Screen program may be for you.

Hollywood Treatment (up to 15 pages)

$3,199.00

When a book is published, treatments are usually no longer needed. After all, there is no more thorough treatment than a full book. However, some writers have a particular vision for their book as a film (or they have upcoming sequels, which are not part of the book that they wish to include in the film story). In those rare cases, it helps to create a treatment to cover your full vision for your story as a film or TV project.

A treatment is a thoroughly developed guide that outlines how a screenwriter would adapt your book into a fully-developed screenplay. As the framework used to transform your work into another medium, Hollywood Treatment is the first step to drafting a screenplay. Not only does it provide the structure for the screenplay, but it also ensures that you and your screenwriter are on the same page regarding the direction your story is taking.

By defining exactly how a screenwriter is going to approach the adaption of your book, you eliminate work for agents, studios and producers. By giving them a shortcut to the essence of your book, you can clearly demonstrate that your book has what it takes to succeed on the silver screen.

If your treatment story is more expansive than the book you publish with Media City, once your Hollywood Treatment is complete, we will submit it to our film and TV production friends and partners. Additionally, you may submit your treatment directly to agents and production companies yourself.
HOW IT WORKS:

  • First we will evaluate whether or not your story would benefit from a treatment. Once we determine that, and you decide to move forward, we will match you with one of our screenwriters who best complements your book’s story and genre.
  • Your professional screenwriter will provide a thorough five to fifteen-page treatment detailing how he or she plans to adapt your book’s manuscript into a film and/or television screenplay.
  • Once your treatment is prepared, with your permission, we will register your treatment on your behalf (you retain all rights) with the Writer’s Guild of America West.
  • Then, again with your permission, we will present your treatment to our production partners and friends for consideration for film or TV or adaptation.
  • If our production partners are interested in the project, they will contact you directly with any plans to move forward. Media City will be available to help you, if you desire.
  • Should our current production partners lack interest in the story, we will keep it on file and continue to present it to new production partners.  We will enter your treatment into our Hollywood Database where movie and television writers, agents, directors and producers have access to the information.
  • The screenwriter waives all rights to the treatment, so you maintain full ownership of your story
