What is the Windows 8 App Store?

The Windows 8 App Store is a service for Microsoft tablets, offered by Microsoft, which allows users to browse and download applications. Since its release in October 2012, there are 10,000 applications officially available on the Windows 8 App Store.

My Media City Publishers book is already live and available for purchase. Can my book become an app?

Yes, if your book is already live with Media City Publishers, and your published using one of our Children’s package (Storyteller, Illustrator, Discover),  you can still utilize an App Publishing service: App Launch Campaign.

Is there a page limit or word count for Apps?

We can accommodate books of 1,000 words or more for an additional fee. Speak to your publishing consultant for a quote.

Can users who download my book share it with friends, colleagues or online?

No, your work is protected, and app users are not able to share your book. They are able to promote it through an email, which strictly shares the title of your book, not the content.

How is the app navigated?

The app is able to be navigated two ways: by swiping across the screen or by using the navigation app bar at the top of the screen.

How do I set up Audio Preferences?

The app’s default setting for audio is Continuous Audio. Continuous Audio allows the audio to play continuously as readers move from page to page. If readers choose to turn Continuous Audio off, they need to initiate audio playback on each page.

How do I set up Paging Preferences?

The app’s default setting for paging is Continuous Paging, which turns the pages automatically when the audio playback stops on the current page. If Continuous Paging is on, Continuous Audio is automatically turned on as well. If readers choose to turn Continuous Paging off, they are able to turn the page at their own leisure.
